Millennium Fellowship Project: P.E.A.C.E. Unlimited
P.E.A.C.E. in Western Sydney is a strategy for Promoting, Educating, Awareness-raising, Campaigning, and Empowering individuals, groups and the community, around Sustainable Development and the capacity we all have to effect lasting, positive change. It is a framework for disrupting unsustainable practices and current ideologies within our University and the broader community. P.E.A.C.E aims to:
PROMOTE via 5 identified internal media platforms targeting students (45,000) and staff (3,000).
EDUCATE on current and future University and SDSN Youth initiatives including Responsible Cafes, Tea Bag Project, Plastic Lids installation and local High School Masterclass programs
Raise AWARENESS across the 5 main campuses personalizing the SDGs to local concerns
Create two CAMPAIGNS:
Challenging the University to re-evaluate current policies, practices and values.
Disrupt current unsustainable consumption and waste practices, i.e., single-use items
EMPOWER students and staff by implementing a new initiative, installing environmentally fact-based challenges related to a minimum of 3 SDGs across 5 main campuses
About the Millennium Fellow
My name is Liam. I'm a third year social work student at Western Sydney University. I work for my university as an Event assistant as well as work with people with disability. I love travelling, hiking, nature and dogs. I always feel passionate about making a positive difference to the community and society. throughout my degree, I realised that there are many things that we all could do to make the world a better place for all. It doesn't have to be big; one small change from an individual could collectively have a huge impact. My dream is to be an activist/advocate for the environment, freedom and/or human rights.
