ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2020

United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. In the three months the application was open in 2020, 15,159 young leaders applied to join the Class of 2020 on 1,458 campuses across 135 nations.  80 campuses worldwide (just 6%) were selected to host the 1,000+ Millennium Fellows.  The Class of 2020 is bold, innovative, and inclusive.

Also, get the opportunity to work with brilliant and smart young leaders that would help in coming up with great ideas to solve matters concerning climate change. If the environment is conserved, we will not face issues like global warming or climate change. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: My Environment Initiative

At the age of 6 years old, Phyllis ost his favorite goat Mimi from swallowing plastic. Coming from a community that is polluted by plastic, the project 'My Environment Initiative' fills the gap of eradicating plastic pollution in the community through recycling of the plastic into valuable products such as flower vessels, mats, and basket. This will also create job opportunities for the unemployed youths in the community, making a community of responsible young citizens contributing positively to the community.

About the Millennium Fellow

Phyllis Njoki Macharia is a young African leader passionate about creating a positive impact on society. She is the founder of My Environment Initiative, which is focused on the recycling of plastic into valuable products such as basket, mat, and flower vessels to eradicate plastic pollution in my community. She is currently studying at the African Leadership University, pursuing a bachelor in International Business and Trade.
