" It's one thing to advocate for change. It's another to create the change you want to see. When I got my acceptance letter into the Millennium Fellowship I immediately felt empowered. With the Fellowship backing my passions I have a reaffirmed faith that there is a reality of progressive change happening. What once seemed farfetched now is within my grasps. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: ProjectBeSafe
ProjectBeSafe has two goals. It first aims at spreading domestic violence education in middle schools within the U.S. Its second goal is to create a network of safe havens at places of worship globally.
About the Millennium Fellow
Luchiano is a first generation minority college student. His altruistic passion for social work is reflected in his pursuit of participating in fellowships such as this one. While he is proud of himself in seizing his opportunities, he prides himself in leveraging his resources by giving back to those who lack access to them. Luchiano aspires to become a diplomat with the State Department. This summer I have been studying abroad at the University of Cambridge as a Gilman Scholar. When I return to my home university I will begin my fourth year as an undergraduate student where I intend to graduate May 2023. The Millennium Fellowship contributed to my ability to adapt to different cultures because of the fellowships exposure to international cultures.
