Tufts University | Massachusetts, United States | Advancing SDG 3 & UNAI 3
" Ever since I have taken a Global Health course at Tufts, I wanted to create change and make long lasting impacts in developing countries. I am excited to be part of the Millennium Fellowship because I am given a platform to educate NGO's in India about the coronavirus outbreak. People who are currently in developing countries are the most at risk for getting the coronavirus. I love working with people who have similar goals and passions as I do. I believe that with education, we can work collectively to stop the spread of COVID-19. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Interventions Against COVID-19 Misinformation in India
We will create and deliver anti-misinformation curriculum for the Indian context, aided by an in-depth analysis of COVID-19 misinformation circulating in India and existing resources developed for similar contexts. The goal of this project is to develop and conduct an intervention—delivered by schoolteachers—to effectively combat misinformation related to COVID-19 in vulnerable urban and rural populations in India, in partnership with local NGOs. Goals to accomplish within August-December 2020:
1. Identify misinformation about COVID-19
2. Design an intervention that adheres to the core principles of education and effective communication
3. Deliver the intervention
Intervention includes pre-test, deliver curriculum and address misconceptions from the pre-test, answer questions from family members, post-test
