" I believe that I am an empathetic leader. Seeing people around me not having the acess to the basic necessities inspires me to do something to help them. Although I can take direct effort to help them immediately, I believe that a change in the system can help make them more independent. Independence is empowering, and as a responsible citizen and student of my nation I believe it is my responsibility to help change the system for the needy. The Millennium Fellowship is a great platform for me to enable change in my society and impact more people around the world through the goals of sustainability. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Students for Sustainable Living

Under the title ‘Students for Sustainable Living’, the Millennium Fellows of NMIMS, Mumbai aim to create awareness about sustainability and sustainable practices. The project focuses on 3 of the 17 SDGs, namely 11, 12 and 13, which are Sustainable Cities and Communities, Responsible Production and Consumption and Climate Action respectively. We want to engage our fellow students in this initiative by organizing beach clean-ups, conducting webinars and workshops with experts in the field, and other activities. Through our independent student newsletter and the university website, we aim to raise awareness and encourage students to carry this initiative into their own homes and immediate surroundings. These webinars and articles will guide them through the process of switching to sustainable products in daily life, and how this can be done in an easy and cost effective manner.
