Millennium Fellowship Project: AGro Eco
AGro ECo aims to provide climate-smart agricultural techniques and technology to rural small-scale rice farmers in Makaray Village, Makeni, Sierra Leone. The mission is to help reduce hunger within the community by teaching farmers sustainable alternative farming practices that will increase crop production while reducing greenhouse gases where applicable.
About the Millennium Fellow
Kadijatu Kamara is Junior Global Challenge and environmental conservation student at Africa Leadership University in Kigali, Rwanda. Kadijatu was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, where she has lived most of her life. She is a youth climate advocate passionate about taking action to conserve the natural habitat of wildlife and advocates for a sustainable environment. Kadija's drive and passion stem from her first-hand experience of environmental disaster in her home country that resulted in the loss of lives of her loved ones. Throughout her time in high school and currently in university, she has been involved in climate actions project and environmental sustainability advocacy. Through her continuous efforts and leadership, she plans to continue making positive impacts in the environmental sector and help solve one of the biggest challenges of our generation, the effects of climate change. Kadija aspires to be a force of positive change in her community and contribute toward her country achieving the united nations sustainable developement goals.
