Millennium Fellowship Project: Sanitary Pads Donation
My project was donating sanitary pads to girls in rural are who usedhand made sanitary pads made of umbrella canopy.
I collected the pads from my personal network. The donation was given by Canada Embassy which is in Addis Ababa the capital city of Ethiopia and I was in Bahirdar 500kms away so I need help for transporting the pads from Addis Ababa to Bahir dar then to the rural Village few kms away from Bahirdar. I contacted plan International Ethiopia and they were willing to bring the pads the we went together and gave to a girls club founded for creating awareness about menstrual health and hygiene. It was a very interesting first step.
About the Millennium Fellow
Wudasemariam Telahune is a very enthusiastic and ambitious law and sociology student at Bahir dar university and sent Mary University college. she is born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and currently studying in Bahirdar, Bahirdar University and Sent Marry University college in distance program. Wudasemariam has always been worried about women in rural areas and empowering them. As a passionate law student she stives to gender equality and justice. In her college years she has successfully accomplished women empowerment projects and wants to be part of this Fellowship to keep empowering rular women's life and bring the change she wants to see in this beautiful world.
