" I'm very thrilled to be a Millennium Fellow because it gave me a chance of being heard and being tried to be understood on a global platform. It gives me an opportunity, to get connected to thousands of other stories which need to be heard. This experience will surely give a new direction to my thought process and maybe I will learn something new which might help me in the future course of my life. My work passionates me because it gives me the feeling of doing something significant, and it makes me happy whenever my work makes others smile. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Kalam Ko Salam
. The educational programme was started by NSS-DTU and the Shubhakshikha Education Society which began as a simple partnership that had the potential to improve the lives of the disadvantaged children of the construction workers. We were able to successfully teach the pupils the fundamentals of mathematics, physics, and general studies with the assistance of several eager volunteers. To track the students' progress, several review tasks were given, and interactive exercises followed. The latter featured enjoyable activities like Pictionary, acting, music, and dancing, among others, that foster children's social abilities. Teachers' Day activities included pupils writing thank-you notes to their teachers as a way to express their appreciation for them. Additionally, the festive semesters provided an ideal setting for students and teachers to interact informally.
The education months of 2021 and 2022 highlighted the height of the festivities. Numerous activities were planned from the first day of November to help the NGO kids experience the feeling of execution. To embed the concept of education in the minds of both students and teachers, KKS organized activities such as writing competitions, sporting events, panel discussions on math, and financial and emotional health seminars, among others. The project has successfully managed to cover a total of 80 students from class 1 to 8th standard. The students have shown remarkable progress in their studies and their overall personality. The project is currently running and is looking for more volunteers to help the students' betterment.
About the Millennium Fellow
Archana Meena is a young, caring, and very patriotic person majoring in electrical engineering at Delhi Technological University, India. She was born in a small Village Kunjela of Karauli district, Rajasthan. She did her schooling in Gangapur city, during her school days her whole life just revolved around her studies. But when she was exposed to the world outside of her comfort zone she felt gazillions of emotions. A lot of questions started to pop up in her head, why this? why so? why does no one care? why can't we help? and this list goes on adding questions day by day. Then she came to college, where she got a new perspective of things and understood that not everything is in your control, but you can contribute your own piece of goodness at your own level. Sometimes, things are very unfair and you can't single-handedly make them right, you may also feel like you are being trapped but the only way of getting out of this is to keep trying and hoping for the best.
