However, it seems that the path to becoming self-reliant is laden with hurdles. The only method to make it a smooth process for women and men or any gender group alike is by bringing gender inequality to a screeching standstill. Millennium Fellowship Project: Vriddhi
Project Vriddhi is an initiative that will help women and members of the LGBTQ+ community achieve financial literacy. For this project, we conducted an online survey for all age groups, where the sampling was convenience-based. We recorded 451 responses which comprised 350 female respondents, 78 male respondents, and 2 non-binary respondents. The mode age group of respondents was 18-24. The questions in the survey were on basic financial knowledge like whether they understand the sum breakup of bills or if they knew the difference between a debit card and credit card, how much they saved, etc. One of the questions was to rate on a scale of 1 to 5 (1 being dependent while 5 being independent) how independent that individual was while making a financial decision. With the average score being 3.02, only 27.28% of female respondents made financial decisions independently compared to 50.53% of male respondents. This data indicates that women's empowerment and upliftment in terms of being financially aware needs to be amplified. We, being members of the society, wish to bridge this gap between women, men, and all genders alike.

Ishani is a pre-final year undergrad student pursuing Mechanical and Automation Engineering from Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women in Delhi, India. She has always been passionate about human rights and education for all. Throughout her high school and college life, she has been part of many initiatives working towards social causes and continues to amplify her efforts to bring about positive changes.
