" Accepting new challenges with grace is my way of working. Learning never exhausts the mind and with each task I do, I feel more confident in myself. Being a part of the Millennium Fellowship program is itself a big achievement for me and I am going to put all of my efforts into it because I enjoy doing that as pleasure in the job puts perfection in work. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Parwaaz

Mental health is the most important today. Urgent work is
really needed in this direction. We need to understand that
we can bring a significant change even by small but conscious and organized efforts. With the activities of Parwaaz, we can reach out to more people and spread awareness about mental illness. If this is achieved, a big step would be
taken in the right direction. Parwaaz would like to make a
dedicated contribution to this action. It has been a while now since I have been associated with Parwaaz and I already feel like it has been a part of me.
Mental health is an integral part of our life. It is our emotional,
psychological and social well-being but at the same time, it is also
heavily stigmatized and has many negative stereotypes attached to it.
Parwaaz aims to reduce the stigmatization of mental health and make people aware of its significance in our lives.
The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a dramatic loss of human life
worldwide and presents an unprecedented challenge to public health, be
it physical or mental health. Amidst this darkness, we found a way to
spread the light. The journey of raising awareness for mental health
and breaking down the stigma started in the form of Parwaaz.
Good mental health and well-being are so important because it is the
foundation that allows us to be the best person that we can be. It
assists us to function within our communities and be productive
individuals. It is towards this goal that the whole team of Parwaaz is
dedicated to spreading awareness through workshops, free one on one
counseling sessions, campaigns, group discussions, movie screenings,
gaming sessions, and many more. Our primary objective in undertaking
mental health advocacy is to raise awareness, create action, educate
the community and decrease the stigma sadly still often associated with
mental illness. If we can learn how to get the best out of ourselves
and how to transform negative thoughts into positive ones we will live
a more fulfilling life – a life where we are ready to face the
challenges that come to us. We are not to blame ourselves for our
mental health, however, we are the ones responsible for getting
ourselves back on track.
“Your passion should give you goosebumps when you think about it and it
should make your heart tickle a little bit” – that’s how I know I’m on
the right path. I feel this way when working for Parwaaz and I am so happy that I am associated with such a project.
