" I am excited to be a part of the Millennium Fellow because I come from a country that hosts 3 million refugees. Thereby, I have seen first hand the struggles they have and have been volunteering since 2015 in an attempt to alleviate some of their struggles.
Through my voluntary work, I have found my passion to volunteer and help those in need, and being a Millennium Fellow will help me chase my passion more! "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Refugees and International Student Societal Integration Project
Our project aims to help international students at Koc University with the assimilation process to the Turkish culture and traditions, such that they can feel more at home. This is being done by organizing a 3 hour event twice weekly where international students are grouped with native Turkish students. In addition, we are currently working on amending the curriculum such that the topic of assimilation is added to the already existing Turkish 101 course given to exchange and full-time internaitonal students.

Sharif Omar Abbas is a passionate Jordanian 5th Year Medical Student, sports-fanatic, and social media influencer with a combined following of over 900 Thousand! 😄 Sharif mostly enjoys filming for his blog, spending time with friends and family as well as going to the gym.
