" Being a Millennium Fellow will not only open me to new experiences and help me interact with new people, it will also hone my interpersonal and intrapersonal skills whereby I will become more empathetic and genuine to the needs of my Fellow beings and those whose lives i can change because of my experience and privilege. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Qudrat

Project Qudrat, which stands for ‘Power’, is about providing quality education to those who cannot attend schools, even government ones, where even the fees are meagre due to their financial restraints. Local NGOs and big ones like Teach For India fail to tackle this issue in India since they associate themselves with under-resourced schools and then provide quality education. But what about those children who cannot go to school at all? The aim was to create a teaching mechanism in slums with many potentials but a lack of resources and guidance. I wanted to create a community of like-minded students and teachers who could volunteer and collaborate with these NGOs. The aim was to foster a sense of power and belief in children that they can bring change despite their present conditions. The project targets SDGs 4, 5 and 10.
