Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Samman: Our Body Our Right
Being a resident of Jharkhand State as Jharkhand is the state of Tribal people. Jharkhand is a
backward and economically weaker state. As we all know the all the problems of the tribal women
in which they suffer regarding their reproductive and sexual life there is a high infant mortality rate ,
child marriages , gender differences , teenage pregnancy and during the many surveys it is found
that many of womens dies due to their reproductive and sexual life lack of nutrition during their
pregnancy time , lack of proper hygiene , lack of sanitation facilities , health facilities gender
differences HIV and many other sexually transmitted diseases during this project I want to do
something for the tribals womens and for their health and reproductive rights here in my project in
first stage includes the field work I will go and interact with the tribals peoples and Iwill be able to
know their problems complications which they are facing in their daily life and I will be able to
know their health and sexual problem aspects I will distribute and provide sanitary pads as much as
possible then the secondly it includes research work and the policy formation here I will give my
best in my research work to know the daily lives problems which the tribals womens are suffering .
After the research I will be able to form the policies schemes to tackle the problems of tribal women
and the thirdly I will start to organize the webinars , schemes ,medical camps , awareness programs
for tribal people as they are illiterate , campaigns , I will also work on raising funds which will help in
my project and I am able to solve the problems of tribal womens
About the Millennium Fellow
Sandhya Verma is a second year law student at National University of Study and research in law ,India being born and brought up in the tribal state of Jharkhand ,ever since his early days she has been passionate about bringing a positive change in the lives of the tribal communities .She took up law as his career because he beleives that law empowers a community and she wishes to play an active role in promoting constituional inclustivity for all irrespective of their ,caste , creed religion , race etc. She is very passionate about prmoting the idea of sexual and reproductive health and rights and has been actively working with organisations to contribute to their noble cause . Sandhya plans to work for spreading awareness regarding mensuration and other related topics which are largely considered a taboo in the society . She always complete her work with full of ethusiasm ,courage and honesty .
