In line with the United Nations SDG 4 and it principle 2, 7 and 9, this project will encourage creativity, discoveries, networking, collaboration and learning in fun environment. Thereby establishing strong relationships among students who most like will hold various important positions in the nearest future. This would be a great platform for them to learn necessary skills in engaging people and Foster the spirit of critical thinking, innovation and development.
It will be an added quality educational experience that would help shed light on health and social problems within the community, in other to discuss realistic solutions. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Mental Health and You
The project aims to enlighten and sensitize students of Osun State University and secondary schools in Osogbo, Nigeria, on mental health and how they can take proper care of it.
The project focuses on educating students on the causes, symptoms and prevention of different forms of mental illnesses and how people can seek help from from loved ones and professional therapists to successfully manage mental illness.
The project also helps to demystify myths surrounding mental illness and discourage stigmatization and discrimination against people with mental illness.
About the Millennium Fellow
Afeez Odegoke is final year Public Health student at Osun State University.
Afeez is propelled towards contributing his own quota to the society, a multi-tasker with penchant for good governance.
He has strong delegation & leadership, Adaptable communication style, Excellent public relationship management, Cross-functional collaborations, planning & organisational management skills.
Afeez Odegoke interest is committed towards advocacy for multi-sectoral collaborations that can propel Global South countries towards achieving the key targets of SDG 3.
A passionate Public Health Student whose interests also lie in research, health policy interventions and IEC/web designing.
