Millennium Fellowship Project: Mental Health and You
The project aims to enlighten and sensitize students of Osun State University and secondary schools in Osogbo, Nigeria, on mental health and how they can take proper care of it.
The project focuses on educating students on the causes, symptoms and prevention of different forms of mental illnesses and how people can seek help from from loved ones and professional therapists to successfully manage mental illness.
The project also helps to demystify myths surrounding mental illness and discourage stigmatization and discrimination against people with mental illness.
About the Millennium Fellow
Taiwo Fatola, a medical student at Osun State University, Nigeria, is a passionate and young changemaker. He is driven by passion to change his immediate environment. He he strongly believes this can be achieved by advancing the SDGs.
In 2021, he led a team of West African medical students to draft a policy document for the Federation of African Medical Students Association. The policy document was adopted at the 35th FAMSA General Assembly.
He is a freelance journalist and fact-checker. He is a Fellow, African Investigative Journalism Conference (2020).
