Millennium Fellowship Project: DesignIT Africa Scholars' Program (DASP)

DesignIT Africa Scholar Project (DASP) is a youth-led project that seeks to equip teenagers with the IT skills needed to thrive in the 21st century. As the organization's vision; DesignIT Africa is to build an ecosystem where young people can coexist favourably regardless of socioeconomic backgrounds, this scholar project targets economically challenged individuals who cannot tap into the world of technology. During the Millenium Fellowship project, DASP provided 50 selected individuals with all resources (internet access, one-on-one mentorship, access to tech communities) to help them transition from total newbies to entry-level interns in organizations with similar interests. DASP hosted weekly meetings with selected individuals to keep track of their learnings, individual check-ins to address personal problems that may arise, and leadership training sessions so that they could utilize their tech skills for a positive impact in their respective communities.
