Millennium Fellowship Project: Q-Environment

Q-Environment is a project focuses on SDG 12 which is "Responsible Consumption and Production", and mainly on substantially reducing waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse.
Through our project we aim to promote sustainable practices related to the environment, such as recycling and composting. One such example would be to promote the reuse of notes among university students. There is no need to re-print the same slides when one has access to reused notes.
Our team also aims to hold hands-on workshops at our university to encourage people to recycle at home in addition to teaching them the basics of composting and how to avoid single use plastics as well.
To measure the impact, we can keep track of the number of the people who attend our workshops and get feedback from them.

About the Millennium Fellow

Lina Abdelkarim Mohamed is energetic, smart and hard-working Economic and Finance student at Qatar's national university, Qatar University. Lina was born in Sudan, raised in Ireland and the UK and now currently residing in Qatar. She's the oldest in a family of 7 and is constantly up to trying new things to expand her horizons. Since a young age, Lina has been a key member in the Muslim society. Due to belonging in a minority (Muslims) in Ireland, Lina and her mother began a series of events to connect the Muslims together, which led to the group to slowly become bigger. This work continued from Ireland to England and has led to Lina having a large network group, which consists of various ethnicities. Along with this growing up in Sudan led her to being exposed to the vast differences between the bourgeoisie and the proletariat, which sparked berawareness of the daily prejudices faced by those who are overlooked in society. This led to Lina aspiring to be able to those who are underpresented in society. She partially connects with the working-class, women and people of colour. As a result she has worked with Muslims in Need, Islamic Relief as well as clubs in Qatar University.
