" The most important part is the people. During the Fellowship, I will meet people who excel at making impact in people's lives. As part of the Fellowship, I would be able to work on my goal of making this world a better place while also creating some life-long connections. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Girl Up and LEAD

Girl Up and LEAD is a community club under Girl Up campaign initiated by UN Foundation. We focus on social issues like gender inequality and education for all. We are operating online for this session and till now we have done various webinars on issues like gender ineqality, gender based violence, climate change and women health issues and a fundraiser event. A community club, like Girl Up and LEAD, which addresses gender inequality and spread awareness, specially among teenage girls, about their rights is a need in our society where, even in 21st century, girls are considered inferior to boys in every walk of life and thus denied their basic rights. Developing self confidence, communication skills, speaking skills and creativity among girls is thus important part of bringing the desired results in the society and this what Girl Up and LEAD is trying to inculcate through their club activites. It is a youth led club with a vision and mission to hear the unheard voices. Girl Up and LEAD focuses on building leadership within individual girls, including self- confidence, personal accountability and long-term aspirations.
