Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Aarosh
Project Aarosh is dedicated to addressing the issue of plastic waste in urban areas by utilizing entrepreneurial strategies. Their unique approach involves converting plastic waste into durable, high-quality items that not only benefit society but also support sustainability. The primary objective is to create visually appealing, long-lasting furniture utilizing ecobricks, ecotiles, and bioplastics.
The team at Project Aarosh has achieved notable success through their innovative lease-cum-sale approach, which targets various demographics such as cafes, middleclass households, and business owners. However, they aim to expand their market share and product offerings by developing a diverse range of items in different categories.
Moreover, they take pride in their efforts to reduce plastic waste and carbon emissions. Through their utilization of Ecobricks, they have transformed over 250 kg of non-recyclable plastic waste into 25 ottomans, 15 tables, and 10 wall hangings, which has resulted in a reduction of over 1500 kg of carbon emissions.
At Project Aarosh, they are committed to making a positive difference in both the environment and society. By offering employment opportunities to low-income communities and enabling them to achieve greater social mobility, they aim to promote sustainable consumption and production practices while also minimizing plastic waste in landfills and oceans.
