Millennium Fellowship Project: Off The Street

A project aiming to have positive impact in the lives of homeless women in Kumasi, Ghana. By providing shelter, education and resources for financial and social development. This will also help create a proper database of homelessness in Ghana and to help reduce the rates.

About the Millennium Fellow

Ursula Ugoada Ohanyere is a medical student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana and a native of Oguta in Imo state, Nigeria. She is a writer, UI/UX designer and graphic designer. At her leisure, she loves reading quirky novels, writing in her journals, public speaking, debating and volunteering. Her project, aimed at providing comprehensive healthcare, shelter, and support services to homeless women and children was borne out of her burning desire to make a difference, and an innate recognition of the unique challenges faced by individuals under these circumstances.

Her passion for the well-being of women and children is deeply rooted in her feminist values and desire to challenge and overcome societal inequalities.

Her vision for this project entails not just the treatment of immediate health concerns, but also addressing the underlying socio-economic factors that contribute to homelessness; as she seeks to create a safe space where homeless women and children can access dignified care, thereby empowering them to rebuild their lives.
