Millennium Fellowship Project: Climate Change Action Campaign
My project addresses SDG 13 which focuses on climate change and that is the greatest problem affecting my community at the moment. Besides the existence of other problems, they all seem to be stemming from this particular problem.
The project tackles target 13.3 which states that ‘improve education, awareness-raising and human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaption, impact reduction and early warning’.
Indicator 13.3.2 which states that ‘number of countries that have communicated the strengthening of institutional, systematic and individual capacity building to implement adaptation, mitigation and technology transfer and develop actions’.
The greatest problem affecting small holder farmers and people in my community in Nwoya district, Northern part of Uganda is the irregularity in the weather patterns which is highly affecting their household development because they are getting almost zero returns from their farming produces given the fact that farming is their major economic activity.
About the Millennium Fellow
Aggrey Opiyo is agricultural student at Makerere University pursuing a bachelor degree in Agricultural and rural innovation.
Aggrey is a strong believer in reality, passionate about the environment and above all a strong believer in the power positive thinking. he loves sharing especially giving back to people in his pursuit for for what he loves the most and that is love, peace and harmony.
Aggrey is a huge fan of basketball, rugby and photography.
