Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Adivasi Sanskriti

The project is an endeavor centered on safeguarding the social and cultural heritage of India's tribal communities in the Bastar region, amidst the looming threat of extinction. By meticulously studying the folktales, folksongs and existing historiography and literature of these tribes, the project seeks to not only understand their history and culture but also to actively contribute to their preservation.

About the Millennium Fellow

Jannat Johal is an undergraduate student at Miranda House, pursuing a dual degree in History and English Literature. She has a keen interest in exploring the nuances of cinema and its impact on society. Outside of her academic and extracurricular activities, she engages in learning about history, tribal culture and Indian cultural art forms which has influenced her understanding of human behaviour and its representation in media. Her interest in social sciences and social change has fueled her to lead teams in clubs like Girl Up. With a passion for both literature and the arts, Jannat seeks to make a meaningful contribution through creative expression.
