Millennium Fellowship Project: Environmental Sustainability @ NYU Shanghai
Millennium Fellow Yawen Zheng led the Environmental Sustainability Committee at NYU Shanghai's Student Government in a comprehensive campaign to raise awareness and engage the campus community. With a team of five students, she organized impactful initiatives such as "Fill & Finish Your Plates" to promote balanced eating and reduce food waste, "SustainaBoats" showcasing student art from recycled materials, a "Sustainability Dialogue Series" for important environmental discussions, and "Sustainable Lifestyle Newsletters" for practical tips. Collaborating with university departments and student organizations, the project reached the entire NYU Shanghai student body of over 2,000 students and anticipated more than 200 direct participants, significantly contributing to environmental sustainability on campus.
About the Millennium Fellow
Yawen Zheng is a senior Economics student at New York University Shanghai. Yawen is actively engaged in several student organizations and the recipient of multiple awards and honors, and has a passion for exploring how economic policies and institutions can trigger positive actions. Through her project, Yawen aims to foster beneficial interactions between nonprofits and businesses, all in pursuit of advancing sustainable development and social responsibility.
