Millennium Fellowship Project: Skin health
Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) are a diverse group of tropical infections that are common in low-income populations in developing regions of Africa, Asia, and the Americas.
They are called 'neglected diseases' because they are almost absent from the global health agenda. They have very limited resources and are almost ignored by global funding agencies.
There are 20 neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), more than half of them present with skin manifestations (the so‐called skin NTDs) and are often associated with long-term disability, stigmatization and mental health problems.
This project aims to call the attention of relevant stakeholders to the neglected skin diseases. It also intends to sensitive individuals on the manifestations, prevention and control of the diseases.
