Millennium Fellowship Project: Eduwings

In disadvantaged communities, students face the challenge of balancing their education with their work on daily wages to make ends meet. This project aims to address this issue by conducting a comprehensive survey in a school to determine how many students are working on a daily basis and to explore the possibility of providing time flexibility in their academic schedules. We will conduct a school-wide survey to gather data on the number of students who are working on daily wages. This will help identify the scale of the issue and gather insights into their specific needs and challenges. After analyzing the survey results, we will collaborate with school administrators and teachers to explore possibilities for flexible scheduling. This scheduling will provide students with formal education in an informal setting so that they could optimize their potential. We will present the benefits of such flexibility in terms of students' well-being and educational outcomes and will encourage teachers to volunteer for additional evening classes to accommodate flexible schedules. To make our efforts effective, we will organize a session or informational event to engage parents in a dialogue about the importance of flexible scheduling. We will highlight the advantages of this approach for both academic performance and work opportunities for their children.
