Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Unnati

Our project basically aims to formulate a platform wherein not only privileged and marginalized children but also adults will be made aware about sexual health. Our program would act as a bridge for people to understand the intricacies involving sex education and which would eventually help them to become a responsible citizen. It is like a social awareness and empowerment project. Since in a country like India sex has always been a taboo subject where people have not been made aware of the said issue by the educational institutions. Moreover, the unawareness results into population growth, rising rape cases, higher abortion rates, Sexually Transmitted Diseases and sexual violence. We believe that the best route to reach and solve a societal problem is by organizing awareness campaigns. Furthermore, due to the prevalent patriarchal nature of the Indian society a major part of our initiative is to extend our support towards women empowerment, particularly reaching out to domestically and socially abused women. Thus, our project is best described as UNNATI, which means progress, as we intend towards a progressive society which is only possible when people come to know of the societal inadequacies. In the course of our project we will grant legal aid, In the course of our project we will grant legal aid.
