PROJECT UNNATI
BREAKING TABOOS, BUILDING HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS, AND SHAPING INFORMED
CHOICES

It is with great enthusiasm and pride that we present the progress report of Project
"UNNATI," an initiative dedicated to fostering comprehensive sex education. Conceived and led by the visionary duo, Ms. Anudha Singhai and Mr. Mayank, both students at Symbiosis Law School, Noida, Project UNNATI has made significant strides since its inception. In the pursuit of promoting informed and responsible choices, the project has successfully organized five impactful events, each contributing to the broader goal of spreading awareness and understanding about sexual health and well-being.

This report encapsulates the milestones achieved, challenges overcome, and the
transformative impact UNNATI has had on the communities it has engaged with.
The inaugural event of Project UNNATI unfolded in the heart of a Delhi slum, where we engaged with underprivileged children on crucial aspects of sexual health. Our focus encompassed fundamental topics such as distinguishing between 'good touch' and 'bad touch,' demystifying body anatomy, and instilling essential knowledge about
menstrual hygiene.

Through interactive sessions and age-appropriate educational
materials, we aimed to empower these young minds with the information needed to
make informed decisions about their well-being. To make the learning experience
memorable, we concluded the event by distributing chocolates, fostering a positive
atmosphere that encouraged openness and dialogue among the participants. This
event not only marked the initiation of UNNATI but also set the tone for the project's commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in imparting sex education. The success of this endeavour underscores our dedication to bridging the information gap and creating a supportive environment for the communities we serve.
Building on the momentum of our initial success, the second event unfolded in another underprivileged community, situated in NSP, Delhi, India.

This particular initiative targeted mid-age and elderly women, recognizing the importance of reaching a broader demographic. The sessions delved into crucial subjects such as menstrual hygiene, sexually transmitted diseases, safe sex practices, empowerment, and rights.

By engaging with these women, we aimed to dispel myths, eliminate stigmas, and
empower them with the knowledge to make informed choices regarding their sexual
health. As a tangible gesture of support, we concluded the event by distributing
sanitary pads, emphasizing our commitment to addressing practical needs and
fostering sustainable change within the community. This event reinforced the
multifaceted approach of UNNATI in tackling various aspects of sexual education for
diverse age groups.

The third and undoubtedly the most impactful event conducted under Project UNNATI
was a comprehensive workshop on "Good & Bad Touch" and gender equality at Mohan
International School. Engaging with approximately 200 students across different age
groups, ranging from classes 1 to 10, this workshop represented a significant stride
towards protecting children from heinous acts. The sessions were carefully tailored to each grade level, covering essential topics such as recognizing inappropriate behavior, understanding the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences Act, 2012, and shedding light on the harmful aspects of social media. As advocates for holistic education, we extended the conversation to higher standards, addressing
menstruation, challenging gender stereotypes, and promoting gender equality in
alignment with the constitutional values of India.

The interactive nature of the workshop fostered an environment where students felt
comfortable discussing their concerns. Numerous students approached us after each session to share their thoughts and even raise complaints, which were duly recorded and brought to the attention of school authorities. This not only exemplifies the immediate impact of our efforts but also underscores the importance of ongoing dialogue and awareness.

Moreover, the workshop revealed deep-rooted societal notions even among young children, emphasizing the critical need for continued efforts in reshaping perspectives. As we delved into discussions about consent, digital privacy, good touch, bad touch, menstruation, and media literacy, we became more resolute in our commitment to driving positive change in society.

The fourth and final workshop, a pivotal segment of Project UNNATI, took place at the Government School in Delhi, India. This session was dedicated to fostering an
understanding of sexual orientation and gender identity among students. Engaging
with these young minds, we endeavored to create a safe space for open dialogue,
aiming to dispel misconceptions and nurture inclusivity. By addressing topics that are often considered sensitive or overlooked in traditional educational settings, we sought to contribute to a more tolerant and accepting society. The workshop encouraged students to explore and embrace diversity, promoting an environment where every individual feels respected and valued, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

As we reflect on the journey of Project UNNATI, having conducted four
impactful events addressing different facets of sex education, we recognize the
significance of such initiatives in shaping a more informed, empathetic, and
progressive society. Our efforts extend beyond mere awareness to actively contribute to the holistic development of individuals and communities. We are committed to the ongoing pursuit of knowledge dissemination and advocacy for a society that values and respects the diversity inherent in every individual.

In conclusion, Project UNNATI stands as a testament to the transformative power of
education and community engagement. Through five meaningful events conducted in diverse settings, we have not only disseminated vital information about sexual health but have also ignited conversations that transcend societal norms. From the slums of Delhi to the classrooms of Mohan International School and Government School, our journey has been one of empowerment, awareness, and advocacy. As we move forward, we remain steadfast in our commitment to breaking barriers, challenging stereotypes, and fostering a society that embraces inclusivity and respect for all.

The impact of UNNATI goes beyond statistics; it resonates in the stories shared, the
awareness raised, and the positive changes initiated. We express our heartfelt
gratitude to everyone who has been a part of this journey, and we look forward to
continuing this meaningful pursuit toward a more enlightened and compassionate
future.
