Millennium Fellowship Project: The Unheard Voices of Kuravan and Kurathis
The Kuravan and the kurathi community are the tribal community who have become
urban dwellers in the past few years. They have been forced to live on the street to
sleep and survive due to lack of resources, opportunities and discrimination over the
years. The same situation prevails in my area as well who has seen their population
rise, family grow bigger but their situation not improve. They have limited access to a
shelter during the rains, a warm environment when they are sick , a clean washroom
to use during their periods to maintain privacy. Even if some of them have complete access to all of this, they don't have access to means of organized loans to sustain their buisness lawfully.
Hence, my project is to uplift their situation and make them my dignified
neighbourhood dwellers who are treated equally in an inclusive manner properly,
informed of relevant opportunities. I want to form an organisation of like-minded
people who believe in equality that can do a Sunday-school concept educating people ,
informing them about their rights , giving them the right opportunities to empower
themselves so that their next generation has a better story to tell and inspire many
more.
