Millennium Fellowship Project: Roots - The Environmental Law Clinic

The law clinic aims to utilise the law to further environmental protection and climate justice. We offer students the opportunity to work on environmental cases with the support of qualified lawyers. Through innovative and practice-oriented learning methods, participants can gain initial insights into the legal working world. Students will benefit from acquiring knowledge in a currently highly relevant specialized field during their studies.
The project is divided into two parts:
I. Preparatory training on environmental and climate law
II. Work on local environmental law cases and support of strategic litigation through legal
research.
This project furthers both SDG 17 (climate action) as well as SDG 4 (quality education).

About the Millennium Fellow

Emma Stremplat is a final year student studying English and German law at UCL and the University of Cologne. She is passionate about climate activism and using law to further climate justice. In 2022, Emma co-founded an environmental law clinic, which allows students to give legal advice to NGOs, environmental initiatives and groups as well as individuals in issues relating to environmental and climate protection. Emma hopes to expand the law clinic by participating in the Millennium Fellowship.
