" "Education is still far from an equal playing field, shaped by a complex web of socioeconomic, cultural, and systemic factors that lead to significant disparities in outcomes. Having been fortunate to benefit from incredible mentors, teachers, and opportunities that have allowed me to explore my interests, I am deeply committed to giving back and extending similar opportunities to those who traditionally go unrecognized in this space. Through the Millennium Fellowship, I am excited to contribute my unique experiences and background in a highly collaborative and enriching environment, while also learning from others to maximize my impact. Aligned with the UN's goal of ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all, I aim to raise awareness of the challenges faced by underserved communities in STEM and to promote lifelong learning opportunities. My goal is to encourage students to pursue fields where they have traditionally encountered stigma, helping to break down barriers and create a more inclusive future." "
Millennium Fellowship Project: HearSTEM: Amplifying Unheard Voices
HearSTEM aims to make STEM education more accessible for hard-of-hearing students through interactive science exhibitions and hands-on learning experiences. In collaboration with No Limits for Deaf Children and Families as well as Harvard's Phillips Brooks House Association, HearSTEM hosts lessons on STEM featuring experiments in life sciences and physical sciences, complete with visual aids and ASL translation. The program engages students from schools like Horace Mann School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, creating an inclusive learning environment that empowers students to explore STEM fields.
