The United Nations Academic Impact and MCN partner to present the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 4,000+ Millennium Fellows have built a grassroots movement strengthening their communities. Fellows have dedicated hundreds of thousands of hours shaping 1,000+ grassroots civic initiatives to tackle inequities, discrimination, and climate change, making the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) reality.

Health Sciences Academy
Millennium Fellows in Pakistan are piloting Project SHIELD to tackle gaps in sanitation and health education in marginalized communities, focusing on the Mashal Model School to advance SDG 3.

Hiba Ansari is igniting the EcoPatriot movement, promoting a new kind of patriotism rooted in environmental stewardship. Her mission is to empower proactive students to become passionate environmental leaders.

Obafemi Awolowo University
Timothy Ayelagbe is championing a Greener Future by rallying Nigerian students to fight for climate justice, promote sustainability, and lead tree-planting initiatives.

Shantel Marekera
2018 Millennium Fellow, Arizona State University
Post-Fellowship, she was selected as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford, spoke on the global stage alongside the UN Secretary-General, and now works as a Legal Analyst at the World Bank to shape economic opportunity for women in 190 nations.
Mathias Charles
2021 Millennium Fellow, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology
Post-Fellowship, he has built out the social venture Akofresh. It helps smallholder farmers address the challenge of post-harvest losses with their solar-powered refrigeration units, extending the life of produce from 5 to 21 days. 3,000+ farmers have utilized these units in Ghana, and Mathias is now expanding Akofresh in Uganda.
